NightLife in Space: Cosmos

Get trippy as NightLife travels far out to the ends of the observable universe with a dive into some of the greatest cosmic mysteries of our time, from the Fermi paradox to the multiverse and dark matter to magnetic fields in space.   Tickets:  bit.ly/2XEfU5j  Music by DJ Mawkus  → Explore some of the mind-blowing imagery produced by SOFIA (Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy), NASA’s airborne observatory built into a modified Boeing 747. With an onboard infrared telescope, SOFIA scientists study star and planet formation, black holes, and the speed of gases in the interstellar medium.  → Look for extraterrestrial life with Seth Shostak, senior astronomer at the  SETI Institute , an organization dedicated to the search for other technological civilizations.  → Delve into some light gravitational physics with UC Berkeley Einstein fellow Philipp Mösta, whose research focuses on electromagnetic and gravitational wave emission.   → Planetarium Schedule: 6:30 pm: Universe Update - Live Show (first-come, first-serve) 7:30 & 8:30 pm: Passport to the Universe (passes required) 9:30 pm: Tour of the Universe - Live Show (passes required) ___________  RESERVED PLANETARIUM PASSES   - Planetarium passes are now required for the 7:30, 8:30, and 9:30 pm shows. This will allow more guests to reserve their preferred showtimes in advance and better plan their evenings—and also help us manage high demand for limited planetarium seats.  - Passes are $3 each and may be purchased online or at the ticket window. Since shows do sell out, we always recommend buying in advance.  -  The 6:30 pm live show is always free and seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  ___________  NIGHTLIFE TIPS:  - Last entry for our Rainforest dome is at 7:45 pm. Please note: drinks are not allowed inside the Rainforest exhibit.  - Enjoy a different fresh seasonal "craft on draft" cocktail at each NightLife bar area. All bars accept cash and credit cards.  - A variety of food options are available at NightLife, including The Academy Café, The Terrace, and a food cart located in the front lobby.  - Special programs and lectures may have limited seating and admission will also be made available to visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.  - Programming lineup subject to change.
